Breaking & Entering Increase

Sheriff needs eyes, ears of communities to stop thefts

Sheriff Scott Montgomery is asking the citizens of Perry County to assist the sheriff’s department in stopping the increase of breaking and entering and theft of properties occurring in our county at this time.  He reports that there is a significant increase in these crimes since the first of year.

Montgomery stated that “Conway County has also experienced the same type of crimes and believes the two might be connected.  These two crimes are at an all-time high for the county. Citizens can be and are an additional set of eyes and ears for our department and with all the new types of media at our fingertips we will be sending a message to these criminals that we are not going to tolerate it any longer.”

The highest percentage of these two crimes is happening on a Friday with time ranging from 7 a.m. through 6 p.m.  He is requesting that if you see anything that does not look normal for your area to immediately call 501-889-2333 and report it, and to also use whatever media source you might have to pass that information along to neighbors and friends.

He encourages you to pay attention to the types of vehicles, get license plate number if at all possible and any description of people, acquiring as much information as possible and passing it on.
