On September 27, 2014 at approximately 3:34 PM Sgt. Keenan Carter and Deputy Will Doughty responded to 705 South Johnson St. in Perry in reference to a physical disturbance.
Upon arrival Sgt. Carter made contact with Yasday Sorter (23 yrs. old) of Perry. Ms. Sorter advised Sgt. Carter that when she arrived home from shopping that her boyfriend Russell Brewer (45 yrs. old) of Perry jumped on her and started hitting her in the face, bruising her right eye. At this time Mr. Brewer approached Sgt. Carter and gave him a black box that was open and stated the box was Ms. Sorter’s. The box contained a large clear plastic baggie with marijuana in it, along with some smoking devices containing marijuana residue and some armbands with Yasday Sorter’s name on them. Also there were prescription bill bottles with the labels peeled off of them with three different type of pills in one of the bottles. Mr. Brewer was placed under arrest for Domestic Battery 3rd degree and public intoxication. Mr. Brewer is being held at the Perry County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
When Sgt. Carter was placing Mr. Brewer in his patrol unit he noticed that he had marks on his face, chest, and side as well. When Deputy Doughty arrived he observed a key lying on the ground beside Ms. Sorter’s feet, when asked if she knew what the key went to, she advised “probably to that box the other deputy has” and the key did however fit that lock box. Ms. Sorter was arrested and charged with Domestic Battery 3rd degree, Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to deliver, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Ms. Sorter is being held at the Perry County Jail awaiting a bond hearing. |
