Would Be Burglar Had A Conscience

On December 13, 2016 at approximately 6:20PM Deputy Will Doughty responded to #39 Arlene Drive on Wye Mtn. to a residential burglary call. Upon arrival he met with the complainant who stated that he came home to find that his back door had been pried open. After making entry the thief stole three guns and two bottles of alcohol. While taking the report the complainant’s girlfriend call him and stated that her son contacted her and advised her that he was the one who broke into the residence.

The suspect (Joseph Oxford, 29 years old of Roland, AR) returned two of the guns to the rightful owner, but had sold the other one, which was returned to the owner the following day. Later that evening Mr. Oxford returned to the residence where he was arrested by Deputy Will Doughty.

Mr. Oxford was charged with Breaking or Entering, three counts of Theft of Property, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Controlled Substance, all of these were Felony charges. Mr. Oxford is being held in the Perry County Detention Center on a $5,000.00 cash or professional bond.
