On Friday Feb. 17 @ approximately 4:00 PM the Perry County Sheriff’s Office received a call that there was a Arkups truck in Perry that was stolen. Deputy Danny Story and Deputy Bill Sneed observed Gunner Barnes (26 years old) of Houston and Jessica Peoples (24 years old) of Perry driving the truck at 3rd St. and North Adele St.. When Deputy Story attempted to stop them by initiating his blue lights and siren Peoples jumped out and ran on foot. Barnes struck the front of Deputy Story’s patrol car damaging the front cap and continued to flee on Bone Hollow road eastbound. Numerous Deputies, State Troopers, and Perryville Police pursued the suspect through Houston and Bigelow where Barnes wrecked the truck while trying to turn south onto Carden Street.
Barnes was charged with Fleeing Theft by Receiving, class C felony, three counts of Aggravated Assault, class D felonies, and possession of a controlled substance (Marijuana) class A misdemeanor. Peoples was charged with Theft by Receiving, class C felony, two counts of Aggravated Assault, class D felony, fleeing on foot, class C misdemeanor Both are being held in the Perry County Detention Center on a $50,000.00 cash or professional bond.
