Bigelow man charged with Domestic Battery 3rd and Terroristic Threatening

On May 7, 2017 at approximately 10:30 AM Deputies Danny Story and Michael Barker responded to 528 Highway 113 South in Bigelow to Domestic Assault.

Upon arrival they met with 18 yr old Taylor Jones who stated to them that her boyfriend, 21 yr old Hunter Gustavus had gotten very emotional the night before and left unannounced. Taylor later found him at his dad’s house around 2 AM, he was intoxicated. Ms. Jones stated she got him back home and left him passed out in the truck. Around 5 AM he came inside the house and went to bed and at exactly 8 AM they woke up, she told him what he did last night and he demanded that she take him to get his car, Ms. Jones refused and that’s when he became very angry. At that time he threatened his life, her life, her mom’s life, and stated that he was going to take her daughter and “show her what reality is”. Ms. Jones said that he even threw a blanket over her daughter’s head and said “not to worry, he wouldn’t let her see me die”. At that point she stated that he sat on her shoulders and started to choke her, she was able to get away from him. Then he chased her outside with a knife, Taylor stated that he told her if he had to “chase her to kill her that it would only be a slower process”.

Taylor was able to get away from him and lock herself in the house where she dialed 911. Ms. Jones stated that he overheard her on the phone with dispatch and he grabbed a meat cleaver and ran into the woods.

Deputy Barker found Gustavus walking on Highway 113 and arrested him without further incident, he told Deputy Barker that he threw the meat cleaver in the woods. Ms. Jones had marks on the left side of her neck and below her knees where Gustavus attacked her.

Hunter Gustavus is charged with Domestic Battery 3rd and Terroristic Threatening, he is being held at the Perry County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
