I’ve recently been approached by Deputy Danny Story about some residences not being properly marked numerically. Deputy Story stated that he was worried about responding to emergency calls and not being able to find residences in a timely manner due to their properties not being marked. Deputy Story asked me to put a reminder out to our citizens of the importance of this issue. Not only as a safety issue, but there is also a County Ordinance. Ordinance 98-6B is the uniformed system of numbering houses, buildings and road frontage on all roads and highways in Perry County. The Ordinance is on file at the Perry County Sheriff’s Office or the Circuit Clerks Office if anyone wishes to view it in its entirety.
This is just a helpful reminder from us at the Perry County Sheriff’s Office. In emergency calls seconds can count and sometimes First Responders, EMT’s, and Law Enforcement can’t find where they’re supposed to be going because houses or buildings are not properly marked. It’s not in the ordinance but it would be helpful if both sides of the mailbox was marked.
Thank you,
Scott Montgomery
