On Saturday October 19, 2019 around 11:28 PM Sheriff Scott Montgomery was on routine patrol when he observed a red Jeep traveling eastbound on State HWY 10 West speeding. A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver Garry Bartlett was very nervous. Sheriff Montgomery asked him if there was something in the vehicle that was illegal such as drugs, he advised "no". Sheriff Montgomery asked if he could search the vehicle and Bartlett consented. After he stepped out of the Jeep Sheriff Montgomery did a pat down of Bartlett's person. During the pat down, a Marijuana cigarette fell out Bartlett's waistband. Also, he had a bulge in his left sock and pants leg, when asked what it was Bartlett said "it's my pill bottle" Bartlett then reached and grabbed it without being asked too. With a flashlight Sheriff Montgomery could see that there were clear plastic bags, rolling papers, as well as a sack containing something. After opening the bottle, it was two baggies containing crystal substance (Methamphetamines) and a bag containing Marijuana. Bartlett was arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance, two counts of Methamphetamines, two counts of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
