On 12/10/19 at approximately 11:50 AM Sgt. Keenan Carter and Sheriff Scott Montgomery observed a red ford ranger at a residence off Hwy 60 East that Carter knew to belong to John Oaks of Bigelow. Carter knew that Oaks had outstanding warrants out of Perry County Sheriff's Office.
Sgt. Carter pulled off the road and waited for approximately 5 minutes on the pick-up to leave. As the pick-up left Carter followed the pick-up and as it negotiated a curve it crossed the center line; Carter initiated his blue lights, at that time the driver hurriedly (trying to evade law enforcement) pulled into the Dollar General store near Bigelow. The driver (John Oaks) jumped out of the pick-up and started cussing and yelling at officers. While placing Oaks under arrest for the warrants he tried resisting and when he was being put into Sgt. Carter's unit he refused to get in and had to be forced into the unit.
During an inventory of the vehicle as an incident of arrest a bag containing a crack pipe with Methamphetamine residue in it was found between the driver and passenger seat. Also, in the pick-up was a mini 14 rifle .223 caliber that was loaded, next to the rifle was several boxes of ammo.
Oaks was charged with Simultaneous Possession of Controlled Substance and a firearm, and Drug Paraphernalia. Oaks also has outstanding warrants out of Conway Police Department. |
