10 Year Old Falls 40 Feet

PRESS RELEASE

 

ON  May  30,  2012  AT  APPROXIMATELY  1:27 PM  THE  PERRY COUNTY  SHERIFF’S  OFFICE  RECEIVED  A  911  CALL  THAT  A  10 YEAR OLD  GIRL  HAD  FALLEN  INTO  A  CONCRETE  SPILLWAY  DRAINAGE  HOLE.  THE  DRAINAGE  HOLE  IS APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET  OUT  INTO  THE  WATERSHED.  THE  10 YR  OLD  GIRL  FELL  ABOUT  40 FEET AND  IT  IS  BELEVIED  THAT  THE 10YEAR  OLD GIRL  MAY HAVE  BROKEN  A  LEG  AND  SUFFERED  A  CONCUSION.

 

DEPUTY  JUSTIN  BURNETT  RESPONDED  TO  THE  CALL.  DEPUTY  BURNETT  AND  ART  GIBBONS,  A  CHERRY  HILL  VOLUNTEER  FIRE  FIGHTER   SWAM  OUT  TO  THE  DRAINAGE.  THEY  LOWERED  A  BACKBOARD  DOWN  TO  A  RESPONDER  WHO  PUT  THE  LITTLE  GIRL  ON  THE  BACKBOARD  AND  SHE  WAS  PULLED  TO  SAFETY.  SHE  WAS  MET  BY  MEDICS  AND  WAS  MEDFLIGHTED  TO ARKANSAS  CHILDRENS  HOSPITAL.

 

RESPONDING  AGENCIES  WERE  THE  PERRY  COUNTY  SHERIFF’S  OFFICE,  ARKANSAS  STATE  POLICE,  HOLLIS  FIRE  DEPT.,  NIMROD  FIRE  DEPT.,   CHERRY  HILL  FIRE  DEPT.,  HOUSTON  FIRE  DEPT.,  JESSIEVILLE  FIRE  DEPT.,  AND  THE  U.S. FORESTRY.
