On June 20, 2013 Investigator John Nichols responded to a call on Peoples lane in regards to illegal drug activity. Investigator Payne, along with Investigator Scott Luter of the Arkansas State Police assisted Nichols on the call and actually stopped the car in question for defective equipment (brake light assembly hanging from car). During the stop the driver Bruce Palmer, 27 years old, of Russellville consented to search of the vehicle, no illegal drugs were found, but Investigators did find a double edged sword that was approximately 4 foot long. Also Investigators discovered the car that Palmer was driving was stolen from Dardanelle, Arkansas. Palmer had a 15 year old passenger with him, that passenger was turned over to his parents at the Perry County Detention Center.
Bruce Palmer was arrested and charged with Theft by Receiving, a class C Felony; carrying a weapon, class A Misdemeanor; Driving on a Suspended Driver’s License, an Unclassified Misdemeanor. Palmer is being held in the Perry County Detention Center on a no bond and a probation hold from his probation officer.
